Where I'm Pointing Now
(draft) How do these intersect with where you're headed?
Here are topics that are top of my mind now.
Our future is Cyborg. We humans are going to meld more and more with Generative AI. What that means keeps evolving, month by month.
Employees can't lean in to a Cyborg future if they fear a Sword of Damocles is dangling overhead. You won't have trust until you have the conversation about GenAI potentially unemploying everyone.
Right now most organizations are outsourcing their thinking to AI accidentally, haphazardly. How can they control the process?
The sweet spot is not high-performing individual humans, but rather Collective Hybrid Intelligence, which has humans and AIs collaborating productively.
Knowledge should accrue value.
Key to thinking together well are maps of the territory that don't vanish every time we make one, so we can pin things down we agree on, set up experiments to address where we disagree, and tell useful stories of where we're going.
Snip! We got to this low-trust spot by cutting relationships and responsibilities that used to hold society and economies together.
We also designed our systems and institutions as if everyone is a bad actor. People can smell the mistrust, and it breeds mistrust in return.
We can mend what's torn, but we can't just patch it: most systems need a deep redesign. I propose we use Design from Trust.
Rethinking your constraints opens up new strategic opportunities. The most useful rethinking usually involves seeing your situation differently.
