My Reliable Pattern
(draft) A rhythm I've learned to count on.
In the series I just posted, Life as a Seer, I recounted stories from my career when I could smell the future. If you were paying attention, you likely saw a pattern:
Like a truffle pig, I'm often looking in the right places. I've learned to trust those instincts.
The names I give the things I find don't end up being what we call them, but are usually descriptive of them. Thus, zines are called weblogs, Intelligent Document Management lives as the World Wide Web,
Those stories aren't random collages, they have detail and purpose.
Sometimes my lead is a couple years, sometimes it's a couple decades.
Sometimes a big detour happens along the way, like faxes taking over for a decade before we got ubiquitous Internet connectivity.
